Terms of sale

Version dated 22 September 2026. This is a translation provided for your convenience; the French version prevails.

Comptoir Vintage is a Parisian house of pre-owned luxury. Every piece sold on this site is one of a kind, chosen, authenticated and photographed in our boutique in Le Marais. These terms set out, plainly, how a purchase with us works.

1. The seller

The seller is COMPTOIR VINTAGE, an EURL (French single-member limited liability company) with share capital of €30,000, registered office at 104 rue de Turenne, 75003 Paris, France, registered with the Paris Trade and Companies Register under number 921 490 777 (SIRET 921 490 777 00023), EU VAT number FR85921490777.

To reach us: info@comptoirvintage.com · +33 6 24 28 52 50 · 104 rue de Turenne, 75003 Paris, France.

2. Scope

These terms apply to every order placed on comptoirvintage.com by a private individual, wherever they live. They do not cover purchases made in the boutique.

The terms that apply are those online on the day of your order. By confirming your order you state that you have read and accept them. You must be of legal age and able to enter into a contract.

3. The pieces

One of a kind, pre-owned

All our pieces have had a previous life. Each exists once only, and is offered both on this site and in our boutique.

Description and condition

Each listing describes the piece as faithfully as we can: house, model, material, dimensions where they have been measured, condition, accessories included. Condition is graded on a scale explained on the listing, and the photographs show the piece itself, never an equivalent. Signs of wear visible in the photographs or mentioned in the description are part of the piece as sold.

Colours may vary slightly from one screen to another. If a detail matters to you, write to us before ordering: we can send further photographs, or show you the piece by video call from the boutique.

Authenticity

Every piece is examined and authenticated by our team before it goes on sale. See section 9.

4. Prices

Prices are shown on each listing in the currency of the delivery country you have selected. Conversion and rounding are carried out by our payment platform; the exact amount charged is the one shown at checkout.

For delivery in France or elsewhere in the European Union, prices include all French taxes. For delivery outside the European Union, the sale is invoiced without French VAT; import duties and taxes may apply (section 7).

Delivery charges are shown before you confirm your order and are set out in our shipping policy.

The price that applies is the one displayed when you place the order. We may change our prices at any time for the future.

5. Your order

You choose a piece, add it to your cart, enter your details and delivery address, review the summary and confirm payment. A confirmation e-mail follows: it constitutes our acceptance of the order, subject to what follows.

Availability

Because each piece is unique and also on display in the boutique, it can happen, rarely, that it is sold in the boutique at the very moment you order it online. Placing a piece in your cart does not reserve it. If the piece is no longer available, we tell you as soon as possible, the order is cancelled and you are refunded in full, without delay and within fourteen days at the latest.

Declining an order

We may decline or cancel an order for a legitimate reason: suspected fraud, an ongoing payment dispute, a plainly incorrect delivery address. Any sum paid is then refunded.

6. Payment

Payment is made online, by card or by one of the methods offered at checkout. It is processed by Shopify Payments on a secure page: we never have access to your card number.

Your order is charged when it is confirmed. The piece remains the property of Comptoir Vintage until the price has been paid in full.

7. Delivery, import duties and taxes

We ship from Paris, worldwide. Each parcel is packed by hand, tracked and insured. Rates by region are set out in our shipping policy.

The piece is delivered to the address given with the order, no later than thirty days after the order. Beyond that period you may cancel the order, as provided by articles L.216-6 et seq. of the French Consumer Code, and be refunded in full.

The risk of loss or damage passes to you when you, or a person you have designated, take physical possession of the parcel. On receipt, check the parcel; if it is damaged or has been opened, note your reservations with the courier and write to us promptly, with photographs.

Outside the European Union

Delivery outside the European Union may give rise to customs duties and import taxes set by the destination country. They are payable by the buyer and are never included in our prices. Where their amount is shown at checkout, you pay them with your order and nothing is requested on delivery. Otherwise, they are collected from you by the carrier. These sums are passed on to the customs authorities: we cannot refund them, including if you return the piece.

8. Right of withdrawal: fourteen days to change your mind

You have fourteen days from the day you receive the piece to withdraw from the purchase, without giving a reason (articles L.221-18 et seq. of the French Consumer Code). No piece is excluded.

How to proceed

Let us know before the period ends, by e-mail to info@comptoirvintage.com, by post, or using the form in the appendix. Any clear statement will do. Then send the piece back, no later than fourteen days after telling us, to: Comptoir Vintage, 104 rue de Turenne, 75003 Paris, France. You may also bring it to the boutique.

We recommend a tracked service, insured for the value of the piece and delivered against signature: the piece travels at your risk until we receive it.

Costs

Return shipping is at your expense. We refund the price of the piece and, where applicable, the standard delivery charge you paid on the outbound journey. As delivery is free in France and the European Union, in those cases there is nothing but the price to refund. Import duties and taxes paid to customs are not refunded by the house.

Refund

We refund you within seven days of receiving the piece, and in any event within the time limits set by article L.221-24 of the French Consumer Code, using the payment method used for the order.

Condition of the piece

The piece must come back in the condition in which it left us, unworn, with all its accessories (dust bag, box, strap, padlock, keys, card, certificate if any). You may examine it as you would in a shop; you are only liable for any loss of value resulting from handling beyond that (article L.221-23).

9. Authenticity guarantee

We guarantee the authenticity of every piece we sell. Should a piece bought from us prove not to be authentic, we would refund it in full, with no time limit, on its return. Write to us with the evidence on which the doubt is based.

Authentication is carried out by our team. A certificate issued by a third party (Entrupy) can be arranged at your request for pieces that lend themselves to it; it does not accompany pieces automatically.

10. Statutory guarantees

Separately from the authenticity guarantee, you benefit from the guarantees provided by French law. As these are pre-owned goods, normal wear, and the signs of use described on the listing or visible in the photographs, are not lack of conformity.

The consumer has a period of two years from delivery of the goods to invoke the legal guarantee of conformity should a lack of conformity appear. During this period, the consumer need only establish that the lack of conformity exists, not the date on which it appeared.

The legal guarantee of conformity entitles the consumer to have the goods repaired or replaced within thirty days of the request, free of charge and without significant inconvenience.

If the goods are repaired under the legal guarantee of conformity, the consumer benefits from a six-month extension of the initial guarantee.

If the consumer asks for repair but the seller imposes replacement, the legal guarantee of conformity is renewed for two years from the date of replacement.

The consumer may obtain a price reduction while keeping the goods, or end the contract and be refunded in full on returning the goods, if:

  • 1. the trader refuses to repair or replace the goods;
  • 2. repair or replacement takes place after thirty days;
  • 3. repair or replacement causes the consumer significant inconvenience, in particular where the consumer definitively bears the cost of taking back or removing the non-conforming goods, or the cost of installing the repaired or replacement goods;
  • 4. the lack of conformity persists despite the seller’s unsuccessful attempt to remedy it.

The consumer is also entitled to a price reduction or to rescission of the contract where the lack of conformity is so serious that it justifies an immediate price reduction or rescission. The consumer is then not required to ask for repair or replacement first.

The consumer is not entitled to rescission of the sale if the lack of conformity is minor.

Any period during which the goods are unavailable for repair or replacement suspends the remaining guarantee period until the goods are returned in working order.

The rights above result from articles L. 217-1 to L. 217-32 of the French Consumer Code.

A seller who obstructs the legal guarantee of conformity in bad faith is liable to a civil fine of up to €300,000, which may be raised to 10% of average annual turnover (article L. 241-5 of the French Consumer Code).

The consumer also benefits from the legal guarantee against hidden defects under articles 1641 to 1649 of the French Civil Code, for two years from discovery of the defect. This guarantee entitles the consumer to a price reduction if the goods are kept, or to a full refund on returning them.

Two points specific to our pieces. For pre-owned goods, a defect is presumed to have existed on delivery if it appears within twelve months of delivery (article L.217-7). And because each piece is unique, a like-for-like replacement is generally impossible: conformity is then restored by repair or, failing that, by a price reduction or a refund.

To invoke a guarantee, write to info@comptoirvintage.com describing the defect, with photographs.

11. Liability and force majeure

We are responsible for the proper performance of your order. We cannot however be held liable where a failure is attributable to you, to the unforeseeable and insurmountable act of a third party, or to force majeure within the meaning of article 1218 of the French Civil Code. Nothing in these terms limits the rights the law grants you as a consumer.

12. Personal data

The information collected with an order is used to process it, deliver it and follow it up. Everything is explained in our privacy policy.

13. Intellectual property

The texts, photographs and graphic elements of the site belong to Comptoir Vintage. The brands mentioned belong to their respective owners: Comptoir Vintage is an independent house, with no connection to the brands whose pre-owned pieces it sells.

14. Questions and complaints

Write to us first: info@comptoirvintage.com, or 104 rue de Turenne, 75003 Paris, France. We reply within the day, and most matters are settled that way.

Consumer mediation

In accordance with articles L.612-1 et seq. of the French Consumer Code, if your written complaint has not been resolved you may refer the matter, free of charge, to our consumer mediator: CM2C (Centre de la Médiation de la Consommation de Conciliateurs de Justice), 49 rue de Ponthieu, 75008 Paris, France, www.cm2c.net. The mediator must be contacted within one year of your written complaint.

15. Governing law and language

These terms are governed by French law. If you live in another country, you keep the protection of the mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence. In the event of a dispute, and failing an amicable settlement, you may bring proceedings before any court having jurisdiction under the French Code of Civil Procedure or, under article R.631-3 of the French Consumer Code, before the court of the place where you lived when the order was placed or when the damage occurred.

These terms are written in French. This English translation is provided for information; in the event of any discrepancy, the French version prevails.
