A Parisian house since 1876, and one of the few that still means something to French women of every generation. Lancel made bags for daily life, extremely well, and named them after the women who carried them.
The Adjani
Created for Isabelle Adjani in 1997: soft, slouchy, gathered leather, worn on the shoulder. It has never really gone out of style, and the vintage examples — in crocodile-embossed leather, in the discontinued colours — are the ones worth having.
